An ID card scanner is an electronic device that reads data stored in the driver license data strip and displays it on the screen. Many can also scan state identifiers and military identifiers. Advanced Features High-tech ID card scanners keep a record of all verified IDs. This can be useful for proving that a specific identifier has been verified, for analyzing customer demographic data, or for compiling a customer distribution list. The scan history can be viewed directly on the machine or uploaded to a computer spreadsheet. Some manufacturers charge for downloading scan history to a computer. Before purchasing an ID scanner, make sure that the scan history is easily accessible.
