In the ACT Mathematics test, there are 60 multiple-choice questions covering 6 categories. You will learn these concepts to grade 12. Six categories of mathematical concepts considered in the test: Preliminary algebra, Elementary algebra, Intermediate algebra, Coordinate geometry, Plane geometry and trigonometry. There are 3 subtitles based on 24 questions on preliminary algebra / elementary algebra, 18 questions on intermediate algebra / coordinate geometry, and 18 questions on the plane of geometry / trigonometry.
You will find the basic math problems that are the easiest and the simplest. These basic problems may be in algebra, coordinate geometry, plane geometry, or trigonometry.
You will also find problems with a word or story that will require you to solve the problem. Carefully read this problem, find out what problem asks you to find, determine what you need from what is given, and then process the solution strategy to find the answer.
The most difficult problems emphasize the ability to reason. They will challenge you to think a lot, and you should have a strategy to solve them.
Test Strategy ACT MATH:
- Paige You have an average of 1 minute to answer each question.
- Answer questions that seem easy to you, and then go back to the difficult ones.
- Answer all questions, even if you do not know the answer. Pure guess will still give you a 20% chance of being correct. There is no penalty for guessing, but you certainly want to have as many correct answers as possible.
- Read this problem carefully. One of the answers to some questions may be "It is impossible to determine from this information." Do not assume that the correct answer, if you did not cross, checked the possibilities of the question and answer to make sure that you did not miss any information.
- Use visual sketches or drawings and add labels to numbers to help you show dimensions, congruences, perpendiculars, diagonals, or to see relationships more clearly.
- Be careful in using your calculator. Bring a familiar calculator and do not always believe everything that the calculator says. This should be a reasonable answer. Use the calculator only when you cannot quickly figure out the correct answer.
- Let your common sense and the processes of natural thinking take over. Try not to panic if you can't remember the formula. Sometimes the answer options will give you a guide.
- Show your work, and if time checks the answer again.
- Make sure your answer makes sense and does not confuse. Do not confuse the hypotenuse with the height of the triangle or choose the answer for apples when it should be for oranges.
