Hong Kong, a city (Lantau Island, the Po Lam Zen Monastery) -2

Continuing with Hong Kong City (Lantau Island Monasteries)

Monastery of Lam Zen

This monastery can be found on the Ngomg Ping Tung Chung.

Departing from Ngong Ping, I walked through an arch with inscriptions on it (sorry that I cannot read Chinese), having learned what it means, and should be later. After about an hour, I stumbled upon a recreation area overlooking Tung Chung and the surrounding mountains, which was a magnificent sight that was peaceful, and all that could be heard were birds. Being on a walk, I found this one of the best, because it was a good way and just peaceful. then I didn’t stumble across the monastery of Po Lam (Po Lam, meaning “the pearl of the forest”), and what I found was a space without gaps or gates. Following the path, I went straight to the gardens of the monasteries, vegetables, of course, and flowers with such a beautiful color, the monks worked.

They recognize me, smiling and waving. Where else could you get such a friendly welcome, I immediately felt at home, where there is another Po Lin monastery, I don’t think so. Having visited several monasteries, I discovered that this is different, hidden on the mountain side, surrounded by trees and silence, and something completely different. The Ngong Ping tourists have just left the hundreds by clicking on the camera to get to the tranquility of Po Lama where it would be hard to find meditation. This monastery is used as a retreat to visit the monks (bhiksus) and nuns (bhiksunis), as a nun told me, who approached me and asked if I wanted to talk, so did I. A nun told me why this was a retreat of monks and nuns from China and beyond. Prayer and meditation are a way to live, and sometimes you need to separate yourself so that you can come to Pau Lam, where the path of life is so simple that it happens. Reading once the courtyard of the visiting monk, who bought the cassette with him, but he was reminded that he would disturb them, and he was taken away. During a conversation with a nun, I asked about wars, her answer was, a person’s greed always wants more, on this earth enough to please everyone, just a simple sentence meaning so much. Therefore, being a monk or a nun, we have a mind, not a price tag. Thinking about what she just said, how right I am, I even have to admit that I always want more, but there is a right and wrong way to get more.

The monastery is governed by the rules, which is a composer of prayer and meditation, and an early start at 3, 30 am, in the morning pray from 4 to 5 am meditation at 5, 30 am, and therefore the day continues with walking meditation from 6. 15-6. 30 pm this day finally ends at 21:00. The building is not the best monastery, but it is still worth visiting the beautiful flowers, as I have never seen before, and the monastery itself is a beautiful building.

My time there taught me to relax, because it was so easy in such a calm place, the question is, I will return, of course. The mention of how I came here earlier, meeting tourists going the other way, and only about 1 hour from NgongPing (less if you walk faster than me, which is not difficult), but if you want to see and feel a sense of satisfaction then this is the place to visit.

The inscription on the arch, to remind us all about the launch of the dust of Samara life (of course, a Buddhist statement).

My next article will be on lantau tracks.
