Catch a cuberra with this unusual fishing tactic -2

The Cuberra Snapper world record was used in Freeport, Texas and weighed over 150 pounds. This catch was a rare achievement, although most of them weigh between 20 pounds. and 90 pounds. They are burnt orange with brown spots along the dorsal fin. They are close relatives of the Snapper Dog, with the only obvious difference being that Kuberra lacks the fangs of the looking fangs of the Snapper Dog.

Capturing huge Cuberra Snappers is a feat worthy of the most dedicated angler. Using relatively standard equipment and this unusual fishing tactic, you too can enjoy success on these monsters with a tough fight.

First, we install our live Bonita (also called Black Tuna) at Penn International 50W from both long outriggers. Each tuna is trolled with a J hook in the fish’s head and a circular hook in the fish. The speed is set at fast 2.5 knots to keep up with Bonitas. Be patient for about forty five minutes. Although the surface seems calm, eighty feet below deck, these two wicked Bonitas cause great fuss.

Large Cuberra Snappers will start popping their heads out of their deep hidden reef holes to explore what is happening. Understand that an adult Cuberra Snapper is not stupid; 40 pounds. Kuberra is 25 years old, 60 pounds. more than 40 years, and for their long life their instincts are honed so as not to get caught. In rare cases, they are hooked, they are usually close to their hole in the reef and can cut off the line on a coral piece. However, if you can create large enough, believe that it is safe to eat and will grow.

Now reel the baitfish and turn the hooks in the black tuna by inserting a circle hook just below the fish to make the baitfish swim right to the bottom. When Kuberra emerges from the reef, he cannot resist the delicious food floating right to him.

STAY ON THE LINE! Usually cuboser will be within 40 feet. surfaces and they are STRONG! You will need at least 25 pounds. and maybe an extra crew to keep you in the boat. Get ready for a tough quarter-hour duel; these fish are not the most mobile, once hooked, but they are as strong as a bull. Catching these great trophies in tasting is truly a high point in any career as a fisherman.
