The disappearance of eighty employees of the oil drilling platform back in 1991 is equally strange. The contact between the shore and the rig abruptly ceased. Repeated attempts to contact the rig have proven futile.
Directed to investigate, the military squadron found a platform of drifting drilling platforms, on which there were no people who were obvious, and no signs of violation. The area was combed, but nothing was found. This incident has its parallel in the incident of Mary Celeste in 1872.
The unexplained disappearances of ships are still common today. I recall a time when, in 1962, moored at a pier in the Red Sea, we, the sailors, noticed a cruise liner adjacent to us. The weather was blissfully calm.
This berth moored the night before our departure. That night, both the liner and its passengers disappeared. We were told that the airliner was the victim of a fraudulent electric storm. I no longer heard. The sea remains a very mysterious place.
