LAND OF CHINA AROUND SOUTH ISLAND PADRE
With plenty of wind, plenty of space and a wide variety of landscapes, the island of South Padre is a great place for all types of wind surfing, buggy riding, land sailing and kiteboarding. In this article, you will find information about some types of kite lands, as well as places where you can ride on South Padre, Texas.
Types of land kiting
For those who prefer to surf on the ground rather than in the water, there are many ways to get to the island of South Padre. From light cruising to high-speed racing, catching air or endless threads on the parking skate sites, ground panthers and sailors use all sorts of mechanisms and techniques to ride in the wind and on the land around South Padre Island.
Buggys
Kite Buggies - super fun for all ages and levels of riders, from beginners to hardcore adrenalines. Buggies are three wheeled carts that sit low on the ground, a roll on large tires that can handle all kinds of relief from the airfield of parking to a soft sandy beach and everything in between. Ocean beaches

The wind quality is good, although some light turbulence from neighboring buildings can be observed in the light winds of the SE.
- North Apartments: Located a few miles north of the developed part of the city and across the road from Beach Access 5, North Flats is a huge open area of packaged and semi-soft sand with numerous trails passing through it, as well as many low dunes to pass through and around . Far enough away from the buildings, North Apartments offer clean wind in all directions of the wind. North Flats is an area managed by the South Padre Windsurfing Association and Kiteboarding, and a parking pass is required to enter the area. Aisles can be lifted on Air Padre Kiteboarding.
- Beyond the north apartments: Continuing north from the northern apartments are many other places on sandy beaches, offering good terrain, open space and adventure for farmers. Look to the left, as on your northern path along the road, and when you see a good place, stop and take a ride!
Parking lots
- Conference Center: The South Padre Island Convention Center has convenient, medium-sized parking, ideal for kite skating and bagging. The area is fun and most of the sidewalk is smooth enough for skateboards, although there is enough space for 3 or 4 riders. The wind at the convention center is usually quite clean and steady.
- Walmart: On the Highway 100 in Port Isabel, shortly before crossing the bridge to the island of South Padre, there is a Walmart with a very large parking lot, perfect for night skate sessions. The place works in all directions of the wind, riders just need to know about any parked cars or random traffic. Behind the building you will find a good sidewalk, as well as plenty of grass for off-road skateboards and buggies.
- Waterpark Schlitterbahn: Located on the southern tip of South Padre, the Schlitterbahn water park and the Shrimp Haus restaurant offer a large and often empty parking lot. With the palm trees surrounding the lot on all sides, the wind can be a bit tricky, but the space is great.
- Isla Blanca Park: Isla Blanca County Park is the land on the southernmost tip of South Padre Island, with a day pass required for entry, which can be purchased at the entrance. Inside the park there are 2 medium-sized car parks, which, when not full of cars, are a beautiful ski area. Do not turn the lines of the kite around any pole of light or tourists, if you decide to ride in this place.
End of the road
The end of the road is the northernmost end of Padre BLVD. The last 7 miles of the road are undeveloped, and on both sides there is nothing but sand dunes. With a little movement, kitters can ride skateboards on the road in any direction of the wind, although mostly east winds are the best.
Main earth grass, glades and trails
For researchers, there are tons of contiguous off-road landscapes from highway 48 between South Padre Island and Brownsville. Although there are many places to pull, one good starting point is located about 1/2 to Brownsville, on the south side of the highway. There is a middle-sized parking lot, with lights, and a boat ramp to access the canal, which connects to the ship and large lagoons.
