Delhi, the national capital of India, is a point of arrival for foreign travelers. Later in the 17th and 18th centuries, Delhi witnessed British colonial rule in India. Becoming the imperial capital of the British rulers, the city witnessed the transformation of architectural styles. European architectural styles dominated the sprawling landscapes of the city.

In the 1920s, the British architect Edwin Lutens designed Delhi at Lutin with prevailing European avenues and official buildings. An outstanding example of European architecture is the House of Parliament of India, the Gateway of India, Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Central Secretariat. These architectural developments separate the new part from the old rambling city with its narrowing along the paths of the old trading places of the Mughal era. This new part of the city became the national capital of India after independence. Sometimes it is hard to believe that such a developed metropolis still retains its ancient character, which for centuries.

Today Delhi is a vast metropolitan city that reflects the true soul of northern Indian culture. The capital is a lively commercial and political center of the country. The city has a wide stage of performing art, in which there are many theaters and theater companies. Many museums and art galleries provide an insight into the rich historical and cultural heritage of India. From time to time numerous cultural and musical festivals take place in the city. Every year the city hosts national and international export fairs. Shopping in Delhi is an unforgettable experience. From brilliant shopping centers with several brands to cheap flea markets located throughout the city, the shopping arena has a multifaceted character, where you can buy from the most traditional to the most fancy things.
