Trying to find a truly authentic Cajun seafood restaurant can be a difficult and disappointing search for anyone outside New Orleans. But if you live in North Alabama, you're lucky, because there is a seafood restaurant, Huntsville-Cajun, which makes you think that you were taken back to the French Quarter. This is called a factory by birth and is located at 815 Andrew Jackson-Way in the Five Points area of Huntsville. It is one of the best kept secrets in Huntsville, because although it is only a few minutes drive from any part of the city, it is not in one of the crowded rows of restaurants.
For those who are tired of the large national chains and are committed to truly enjoying the authentic marine fish of New Orleans Cajun, the Malchinkov factory should be the first place you go the next time you eat. Naturally, with a name similar to the boy’s factory, one of their specialties is a famous sandwich, and you will not find anything like it in Northern Alabama. Their roo boys come in a variety of varieties, such as the traditional favorites of shrimp, catfish, oysters and crayfish. If you cannot decide, you can get half and half of the two above. But this is just the tip of the iceberg - they also have boys made with a group (blackened, fried or fried), swings, Caribbean spurt, hot sausage, roast beef with sauce, Philly steak, chicken fingers, soft shell crab (in season) club boy with beef and turkey ham. Believe it or not, many people have tried them all.
And what will happen in the restaurant Cajun without sandwiches in mufflett? “Boy Factory” has them too, and wait until you try one of these great sandwiches, made with authentic Gambino olive salad. These eight-inch sandwiches are food in themselves, stuffed with ham, salami and pastras, along with mozzarella cheese and provolon. You may not be able to finish everything at once, but you will not leave anyone in the restaurant because these things are positively addicting.
There are many more options in the Boy & Boy factory, and once you’ve been there, you may find yourself again and again to try everything on the menu. Of course, they have hamburgers and cheeseburgers for any Yankee who happen to pass through Huntsville, but this is not why most people eat there. No, this is for boys, muphallettes, gumbo, red beans and rice, ettoufee and Jambalaya. Or how about a basket for dinner of catfish, shrimp, crabs, scallops, crayfish, oysters, or even ghat meat? Yes, you read it right! When was the last time you saw this in the menu? I didn’t have the courage to try it myself, but if it’s something like the rest of the Po & F’s menu, it’s certainly delicious.
Therefore, if you die to get real Cajun seafood in Huntsville, Alabama, make a short trip at five points for food that you will not soon forget. Currently, the Boy Po factory may be one of the best tables in Huntsville, but this is not for long.
