My wife and I discovered this subtropical paradise in 2002 after a family holiday on Key West. We sent the kids home early after Christmas, continued our vacation, and drove to Fort Myers / Coral Cape. Over the next week, we discovered an enchanting chain of barrier islands off the coast of Southwest Florida. Like pearls on a necklace in the azure sea, they all offered surfing, sand, sun and fun and lots of good fishing. Each of them was unique, and each asked to study it.
Running from south to north, the first significant island off the coast of Fort Myers is Estero Island, home to the small coastal town of Ft. Myers Beach. This is a version of South Miami Florida Miami Beach, but on a smaller scale. To the north of it are the magical islands Sanibel, Captiva, Northern Captiva, Cayo Costa and Gasparilla Island with the city of Boca Grande, where billionaires live and play. The interior of these islands is two large reservoirs, called "Pine Island" and "Charlotte Harbor." Seventeen mm island Pine - the largest of the inland islands. Useppa, Cabbage Key and dozens of other mangrove built islands are located in Pine Island Sound. This vast territory covers the second largest estuary in Florida. It feeds on three main rivers, the Kaloosakhtche in the south and the Myacca and the rivers of peace in the north.
This estuary is home to abundant marine life. Sports fishermen come here for snook, perch, trophy tarpon, perch, perch, sharks and dozens of other species. Waterfowl and coastal birds live in this area in large numbers along with manatee and a smaller population of alligators. Fresh Gulf shrimp are the best in the world, and rich stone crab in southwest Florida is no longer found.
I met sailors who tell me that this area offers some of the best in the world. If you are a yachtsman, you will be at home at home in the bay, inlets or in the inter-bone waterway. The boats here are great! Fishermen will find enough water and fish here to occupy them for a lifetime. The beaches are world class and shelling is a local pastime. It is a coastline living in the best condition.
A lifelong fisherman, I learned that Lee Island in southwest Florida offers a 12-month window of fishing and boating with all the comforts and needs of life. There are no victims needed! They have hospitals, restaurants, cinemas, doctors, shopping centers and all the ingredients to make a good life and a great retirement! The fishing is great and the people are friendly. Golf players notice; This area also plays golf in Mecca! Lifestyle random and pending. The colors are bright, the music is lively, and the cuisine is a mixture of spicy Caribbean, seafood and southern comfort.
Now, eight years after our initial discovery, this paradise is our home. We are well agreed. Guess what! We have many friends who love to come and visit! We have a beautiful pool house, and my wife and I have a job and a life that we could hardly imagine. Those once mystical subtropical islands are now part of our daily life.
I am the captain of the charter, fishing guide and water taxi. I spent my days among these magical islands called Captiva, Sanibel, Cayo Costa and Boca Grande. I still enjoy exploring these islands, and now I help tourists and fishermen from all over the world and the whole world explore them. The best way to explore these islands is by boat. This is the quickest and only way to get to some of these islands. What could be better than spending a beautiful day on the water exploring these barrier islands. Any number of local captains and water taxis can help you.
There is plenty to see and do for tourists or vacationers! We can fish for 200 pounds Tarpon on sandy flats in the turquoise blue waters, or we can catch a snapper for dinner tonight! I can take you on an eco-tour to see manatees and alligators, or we can go hiking in palm trees to the surf on a secluded beach in the Gulf of Mexico. We can dine at the Barancell Phill on Upper Captiva or eat fresh oysters in cabbage beaks. Think that my boat will be your personal water limousine, and let me take you to restaurants and boutiques in Boca Grande for a visit. You can also walk along the beaches of Gasparilla or visit the lighthouse.
If you fall in love with these barrier islands, like my wife and I did 8 years ago, you can catch yourself thinking of wild crazy thoughts about making this place your permanent or second home. View property. You can find some deals! “This is a great place to visit and have a golly, you just want to live here!”
