o Do not get drunk.
This is called wine tasting, which means that you need to walk on your own. Drink too much and you will not appreciate the subtle flavors (you will not even be able to remember your name!). Look at the tour as a way to know your sky - if you are right after alcohol, stay at home and drink a couple of six packs.
o Drink plenty of water.
Most of us do not drink wine for several hours a day. Thus, your body can be a bit “shocked” by alcohol, and you can wake up with a bad headache or upset stomach. To avoid this, drink plenty of water between wine tastings. This will help you get rid of alcohol from your system.
o Use dump trucks.
You do not need to swallow everything. You can simply taste the wine and then spit it out, especially if you don’t like it very much.
o Keep a log of wines.
It’s hard to remember all the names and qualities of all the wine you tried. So bring a notebook and list your favorite vineyards, varieties and vintages that you really love.
o Come for the wine.
Yes, this is a wine tour, but there are other things you can do in the wine rooms of the Napa Valley. Explore beautiful grounds and gardens. Enjoy the breeze, the golden sunshine of California and the silence of acres and acres of landscape, skyscrapers or solid neon lights.
Understanding the history behind the taste.
For a really well-thought out understanding of the science and art of winemaking, choose tours that include a lesson on various types of grapes, harvesting procedures and various processes related to bringing it from field to table.
o Rest.
Since most wineries in Napah are open at about 10 am or more, wine tours do not have the craziest pace of most vacations. You can sleep without guilt or enjoy a leisurely breakfast, and not rush to catch the first bus. The same goes for nightlife. There are no bars or discos here, but at least you can really charge at the end of your tour. (Bring a good book!)
o Enjoy your meal!
This is the right time to develop your culinary horizons, especially when traveling to the heart of Napa Valley. Take advantage of the many gourmet restaurants in the area and order the dishes that you usually break. For greater convenience, book your orders before departure. You do not spend precious time waiting for the table, and you can also explore reviews of different places.
o Stay at the Bed and Breakfast.
Some wineries will have their own numbers. But you can also stay in bed and breakfast in Napa or the neighboring Sonoma valleys. The inner, serene atmosphere will give you a “taste” of the local culture.
