Like many people in the early 70s, the injury made me ask what life means to me. My particular injury at the age of 27 left with two young children after the death of my first husband, David. It was during the expansion of the time of growth of consciousness, when events such as the war in Vietnam, state shooting in Kent, revolting against it, birth control and the sexual revolution leading to the flourishing children and lovers, kicked us into equipment. Many people began to experience the waters of what we could experience - drugs, sex, and rock and roll. After the death of David, I escaped from my protective shell and went to look for my own answers, because what I knew did not make sense; I became a seeker. I knew that I would marry, and I wanted to marry an educated man, someone who loved to travel was home, and although I did not file him as a demand at the time, was spiritual bent.
I met Bill. He was a meditator, also widowed, had a small child close to the age of my two children, and because of his injury after the death of his first wife, he discovered alternative approaches to stress. He took up meditation and presented it to me. I was delighted with meditation as soon as I found out about it and wanted to learn more, so I subscribe to Yoga Teachers. The training course at the Toronto Yoga Center, where the old school of yoga training was still studying, was honoring the philosophy and training of ancient yoga in accordance with this philosophy. In those days there was no hot yoga, power yoga or yoga to lose weight. It was taught Hatha Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation and Yoga.
PRESSURE ACCURACY AND MAGIC RESULTS
One of my teachers, Jay Bixby, was his name, came up to me after his class and said: "Stay after the lesson, Daniel, I want to show you some methods of healing." At that time I was lucky that I had menstrual cramps, and Jay set to work on the pressure. He pressed along the area of my collar bone, the thumb went down on either side of my spine, hit the dots on my hip area, did the spinal pressure work on my toes and legs, and to my amazement my cramps disappeared. I felt that this flow of energy penetrates my abdominal area and dispels seizures. I thought, “Wow, this is better than taking a Midol pill.”
I shared this experience with Bill, and we decided that I would take my first course of pressure - Vita Flex from the book by Stanley Burroughs, entitled “Healing for the Age of Enlightenment”. It was in 1977, and Mr. Burroughs was a pioneer in the field of healing arts for a long time. He was far ahead of his time and was arrested for "curing" people who threatened the medical model, but this did not prevent him from spelling out this word. His book included the famous cleansing diet, Yoga poses (developed by Jay Bixby), color therapy, which I love, and his excellent Vita Flex pressure measurement methodologies. This is my favorite book of all time, and when I find copies of it, I grab them and give them to students when they hold seminars on the Lower Leg or the Upper Body, including some Vita Flex points.
Around the time I took the Vita Flex, Bill’s son was diagnosed with spinal curvatures. We were instructed to take him to the X-ray Solar Brook Hospital, where he showed that his femur did not fit properly into his hip, thereby pushing his hip and ending with a curved spine, and one leg 1.5 cm shorter than the other. We were asked to return in three months to see how he does it.
I took my stepson to teacher Vita Flex and asked him if he could lengthen his legs. (I was really charming, because I did not think it would be possible.) He said: “Yes, in fact, there is a point of lengthening of the leg in the region of the collar bone”. Master taught me what to do, and I performed this two-minute ritual every morning before I sent the children to school. I just pressed on the area of the collar bone, the thumb went on both sides of the spine and did the vertebral area on the big toes and legs. The teacher said that it would probably take about three months to normalize the legs.
That was all I did, and then we took him back to Sunny Stream, as they asked to get an x-ray again and, to our amazement, it was completely normalized! Well, you can imagine that we were very, very impressed with this result and generally shared with our son, since he was only ten years old, and now he can continue to live with the best skeletal system.
ONE THING LEADS OTHER
It made us cling to the healing arts, and I think I took all the courses that came to the city in those days. Wonderful courses with Dr. Bernard Jensen on food and iridology, Dr. Alzner. Deep muscle reflexology, Werner Erhard's training seminar, known as EST, which in those days was very changeable, and although I liked Vita Flex, I received certification with the Association Reflexology Canada in the early 80s and soon became a teacher.
At that time, all these alternative things were nowhere close to the mainstream, as today - reflexology, yoga and vegetarianism were still hockey poke, and we were a little strange by our friends. Children will come home from school and I will stand on my head or be in a posture of a corpse or twisted like a pretzel. Visiting children told our children that there was never anything normal in this house. We were really hidden hippies raising a new age children in a very tangled era. We had no road maps to follow and did this when we walked. We would visit yogis, psychic healers, people from other planets (as they said), walks, tarot card readers and many wonderful experiences in this house - this is what our children were subjected to - lots and lots of people, Workshops and alternative life ideas.
Since our children were subjected to reflexology at a very early age, they often asked to do their feet and got used to thinking about the body laid on their feet. One day, as prescribed by a doctor, the doctor said: “Let me look at your stomach,” and my daughter began to take off her shoes. I had to hold back the smiles.
We learned more about yoga from our spiritual yoga teacher, Dr. Ramamurthy Misra, who was the most delightful yogi who could be found. We were so lucky that they were acquainted with his teachings on the philosophy of Ayurveda and personal doshas (tendencies), healing of the yoga chakra and various methods of purification.
I also continued my education, raising children and finished a degree in psychology and a postgraduate course in human resources management. I discovered that I had a great interest in personality theory and was qualified to use MBTI® (an indicator of the type of Myers Briggs). I worked in several companies participating in seminars on the use of a behavior model, and received additional training in the theory of personality temperament. I had a blast that studied all these wonderful things for self-understanding and healing.
HEALING HEALING SYSTEM ON OUR FINGERS
All these knowledge led to the fact that I brought together thoughts about the reflexology of the ears, hands and feet. I realized that with the theory of personal temperament (similar to the system of the spirit of Ayurveda), we can think of the human tool as a holistic system that controls the mental side that acts as a dreamer in us and produces our Ideas; the social side, which acts as a catalyst in us and generates our connections; and the physical side, which acts as a Builder in us, providing feedback that helps manifest and consolidate ideas and connections.
Because I, fortunately, taught all three reflexology courses for students - “Feet, hands and ear reflexology” - I asked them what their experiences were and how they felt that the three dimensions were different from each other. It was from my students that I linked the knowledge of Ayurveda, personal temperaments, and the fashion of reflexology in the whole system at our fingertips. The benefits of the students expressively fit into the principles of Ayurveda, and we determined that in fulfilling the answers, we felt calmer; having made hands, we felt that our emotions are cooled; and by doing the legs, we felt that the body was stimulated. I was so excited as it all came together and tried to capture it in “Well-Tempered Life” - a book that summarizes my experience of yoga, personality theory and reflexology.
• If the mental principle is unbalanced, do an ear reflexology to calm the mind.
• If someone is upset, upset, or angry, do manual reflexology to cool the emotions of the Social Principle.
• And if someone is tired, lethargic and boring due to too much time constraints and time to rest and repair, make a reflex leg theory to stimulate the physical principle.
MOTHER NATURE - HEALER
Like many reflexologists, we know that this is a powerful job that we do, and we are very pleased when people tell us about the impact of our work on the pressure on their systems. I always tell my students: “You are not a healer here, your work is pressing buttons. Mother nature is a healer, and each person’s body has its own intellect, it considers it necessary. Your task is to just push the buttons.
For me, it is better not to label an imbalance in the body, but to think further in accordance with the orientation of traditional Chinese medicine. See Condition as an imbalance of energy and strive to return the system to equilibrium - back to homeostasis. Whether in the mental aspect with anxiety or anxiety; socially upset with anger or anger; or it is related to the physical aspect of fatigue and toxins, we need to strive for balance and help our clients achieve this with any tools, skills or knowledge that we need to share.
Reflexology, for me, is one of the most valuable tools we can help ourselves, our families, and our clients, and I'm really grateful to Jay Bixby, where he is, for my first natural healing. It really helped me shape my life. I love sharing, teaching, and sharing information, and I love sharing my past and experiences with others.
