 Concussions and spirituality -2

A popular TED video, a popular book and an interview on Oprah, people really started talking. Suddenly, the silent experiences of millions of people who have suffered a stroke and brain damage have entered the core consciousness! Being a victim of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and an Intuitive life trainer, I get so many questions from people who are wondering if biochemistry and trauma arouses spirituality in everyone or only in them. Although I, of course, cannot speak for everyone, I recognize a higher than average interest in spiritual growth and the intuitive awareness of people whose brains have a short circuit. This process is exciting and scary, so here are some tips for handling Awakening:

1) Know that you are not alone. Yes, it may seem that no one in the world possessed this experience, but people have had mystical encounters for thousands of years. Some, like Hildegard von Bingen or Fyodor Dostoevsky, are now believed to suffer from severe migraines and / or epilepsy. Many medical intuitions, such as Carmen Bell and Tiffany Snow, spend their gifts on near-death experience. My own medical intuition increased dramatically after mild concussion.

Does the biochemical component cause such an experience? Not at all! Scientists have recently studied long-term meditators, identifying areas in the brain that are more or less active than in "normal" brains. Yoga offers the tradition of balancing biochemistry from four to eight thousand years to relax the body, calm the mind and awaken more meaningful spiritual consciousness. If you suddenly feel that the curtain has broken up, you may need to look back at people who have similar impressions, but be sure: they are there!

2) Stay open. When a stroke, traumatic brain injury or other neurological condition suddenly opens up paths that you never knew are exhausted, you may feel tempted to “turn off”. Indeed, many people turn to me because they do not know how to cope with the onslaught of mental awareness. “How to set up a tune?” They ask. “I don't want to know that!”

If you have lived your life from a rational point of view and suddenly saw in the future, read the mind or know that your neighbor has cancer before she tells you, this information initially seems too difficult to process. But I learned something ironic about vision and insight, when a brain damage destroyed my visual system; if you feel overwhelmed, hug more information, rather than run away from it.

That's why it works: physiologically, our eyes are designed to scan the horizon for food and / or predators. Although most of us now spend more time on the computer than on hunting or gathering, our visual system is still very similar to our ancestors, for which any information was equal to valuable information. If a saber-toothed tiger squatted to the left, or a buffalo wandered away, they needed to know! The loss of peripheral vision meant the loss of general awareness, which could mean death. Here the narrowed field of view still leads to a fight or flight reaction.
In today's world, we can easily develop a tunnel vision. If you spend eight hours on the computer and then return home and watch television for a few hours or relax while reading a book (without looking into the distance or practicing eye exercises), you have significantly narrowed your field of vision. As the saying goes, "use it or lose it." Constantly ignoring our peripheral vision can lead to degradation, so we are less and less aware of our physical environment. Anxiety, irritability and fear quickly follow - and not surprising! Our bodies are rigidly connected to fear the lack of visual input!

Between eighty and ninety percent of the information we absorb comes through the visual system. The health of our visual system directly affects our thoughts, emotions, and the ability to "see the forest through the trees." As humans, we also have a Third Eye or an intuitive center that is located in the space between our eyebrows. According to yogis and long-term meditators, focusing on this area enhances intuition. This Center of Vision is still closely connected with our visual center, because on the imaginary stage so much memory, imagination and understanding can easily cope. If you suddenly find that your center of vision or understanding (your third eye) is overloaded with information, trying to turn off the manual will only increase your anxiety, just like blinding, as a hunter-gatherer would make your heart race.

People instinctively fear the dark. If you feel too much intuitive awareness, turning your inner light will help much more than trying to turn it off.

3) Learn to develop calm awareness. Good, so you shouldn't censor information, but it still looks too much: how do you find a balance?

Try to concentrate on your own, on your own or with guided meditation. Repeating a mantra or listening to chants like those performed by the Virgin of Premal or Krishna Das can help your mind to relax without zoning. Ideally, you want something that pulls you into your heart, instead of playing hide-and-seek with thoughts. Focus on your heart chakra (in the center of the chest) and imagine that warm, golden, pink or green light pulsates with a slow, radiant beat. As the impressions fly into your head, bringing them into your heart to feel and hear the answer, softened by loving kindness. In Christian tradition, Jesus says: “Lovely love casts out fear,” and you know what? It really is! Experiment, and you will find that saturating yourself with unconditional compassion will immediately eliminate anxiety.

Note that the words "scared" and "sacred" contain all the same components that are slightly rebuilt. We do not need to remove things to make them holy. We only need the perspective of a shift. Teacher Sally Kempton, on her CD, Awakened Heart Meditation, notices that the word Heart Chakra, Hrdaya, is also a Sanskrit word for reality. Let your heart balance your advanced information.

4) Good luck! Your attitude to these newfound gifts determines most of your experience. Approach intuitive hits with fear, and life becomes a series of terrible predictions and presentiments. On the other hand, recognizing fraud from the universe can save you a lot of time, energy and heartache. Many people believe that increased intuition coincides with an increased ability to express themselves. If you have read or heard about the "Secret", then you already know that your thoughts affect your reality. Why don't you have fun creating more of your life? Practice imposing arrogant, joyful days. Ask about synchronicity. Align your intentions with the highest dignity and watch the beauty in front of you.

They say that God is in the details, but they also say that God has a wonderful sense of humor. Presumably, the ability to understand jokes in another language means fluency. When you start getting Spirit drums, you can giggle with the universe. Life becomes a comedy, and in a theater, comedy always means a happy ending. Light up!

5) Ask for guidance. Just because you suddenly get access to additional information, it does not mean that you yourself. When you go to graduate school, you still have a professor. Life offers endless possibilities to learn and distinguish. If you feel uncertainty in leadership, then ask for clarity. If something stretches the limits of rationality, you can request signs made to activate your faith.

Gideon's biblical story reminds us that we can pray for interactive lessons. God told Gideon to save the Israelites by leading them into battle against their enemies. Gideon was inclined to believe in God, but because others put life at stake, he asked for a sign. In particular, he asked that if the Israelis were to fight, then the wool that he laid on the ground would be wet while the ground would remain dry. The next morning, he discovered that the wool was wet and the ground was dry, so he felt that God had answered his request. However, he wanted to be sure, and so he asked for another sign. This time he asked for wet ground and dry wool. The next morning, he found dry wool on wet ground, and he knew that he could confidently lead the Israelis against their enemies. Like Gideon, the Israelites won.

You can request any sign you like, but don’t be surprised when an event responds. Sometimes you gain experience and more easily feel the impulses that come from intuition and which are disguised projections of the ego. If you understand that you are clinging to intuition and trying to manipulate it, consider it a sign to re-read the sentences in this article, starting with number 1. The ego creates fear, competition, anger, affection, obsession and anxiety. Contrast, the fruits of the Spirit include: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, kindness, loyalty, meekness and self-control.

Awakening your intuition takes courage, but you will also learn to love your life. Many blessings on your way!
