Genting Highlands, a city of entertainment and casinos, is located in a mountainous region in the state of Pahang, Malaysia. There are many travel options when traveling to Genting Highlands. Getting there can be a pleasant or difficult experience, depending on the type of transport, as well as on weather conditions. The following are recommended transport tips for Genting Highlands in Malaysia.
Car travel:
By car, of course, one of the most popular modes of transport in the Genting Highlands. It is only about 45 minutes to an hour from the center of Kuala Lumpur. From Singapore it can take from 4 to 5 hours (depending on the speed of your movement on the highway). You have your advantages, it provides maximum flexibility, since you can take a trip around the neighborhood (for example, Kuala Lumpur) before heading to the mountain in Genting. If the weather is good, then you will have a pretty scenic experience in the mountains. However, there are a few things to consider when traveling by car:
1.) Weather conditions
When you climb a mountain, due to a change in altitude, it can sometimes be foggy and with a good chance of rain. Therefore, be careful when driving, as fog and rain can adversely affect driving conditions.
2.) Traffic conditions
Usually, if you travel from Friday evening (from 6 pm to) on Saturday evening, there will be a lot of cars on the road. This is due to the fact that many areas around Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding region make a quick trip to Genting Highlands for the weekend. Therefore, be careful when driving on high slopes and take special care in the corners of the road for oncoming and overrunning traffic during busy periods.
3.) Driving Technique
As with the rise of any mountain, be sure to turn off the air conditioner and roll the window when you climb a mountain. This will help save your gasoline and ensure that your car has enough power to climb the mountain in Genting. Plus, when you climb higher, you no longer feel the hot Malaysian humidity, so you can enjoy the fresh cold mountain breeze. Also make sure you switch to the lower gears when you need extra power in your gear. On the road, signs indicate when it is recommended to shift to a lower gear. The key is to ensure that your car has enough momentum to climb the mountain, since certain bends tend to be difficult and can cause your car to stop if you do not have the right moment.
4.) Parking
First World Hotel has free parking. This is by far the largest car park in Genting Highlands. However, it is recommended to avoid entering Genting during peak periods (as indicated in point 2 above), as it will be difficult to find a parking place. If you come early enough before the nations arrive, you should have plenty of room.
By bus:
Traveling by bus is another popular form of transportation. Many bus companies from the Singapore / Johor region offer night buses to Genting Highlands. So you can save time, sleep in the bus on the way there. The only limitation to traveling by bus is a longer commuting time, since, as a rule, the bus will move more slowly.
