Looking for a place in San Diego to camp, fish, hike or picnic? Lake Jennings is located in Lakeside, California. You will think that you are in the middle of the desert on Jennings Lake overlooking the lake and the forest. The lake is a drinking water tank, managed and operated by the Helix water area.

This lake has camping, fishing, boating, hiking, wildlife viewing and bird watching.

CAMPING

Camping Lake Jennings has a 96-person campsite and is open seven days a week, a year around. The various camping premises consist of 35 full connections (water, electricity and sewage), 35 partial places for connection (electricity and water) and 26 places for accommodation without those. The campground has free Wi-Fi through the campground.

For family gatherings and places to sit indoors and play some games, the pavilion is open to all registered tourists. This large wooden covered structure has games like ladder golf and table tennis every day. On Saturdays there are Arts & Crafts. Some of the new activities include Jenga, Corn Hole and tetherball. There is also an indoor play area with swings and other play structures for children.

LAKE

Recreational amenities include floating boats, rowing boats or motor boats that can be rented on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. In addition, there are many bays around the lake, which are a great place to relax or have a picnic.

FISHING

For fishermen or forest fishermen, the lake is open for fishing and boating every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Shoreline fishing is available from the campground daily from 7:30 to 17:30. Fishing and license permits required.

For your convenience, the lure and tackle shop is located on site and is open from Friday to Sunday, providing bait, tackle, camping equipment, snacks and soft drinks. At the station of the entrance to the camp you can buy firewood, ice and propane.

HIKING

If you go hiking, follow a few trails, as Lake Jennings has miles and miles of hiking trails. Around the lake, hikes are some flat 5.5 miles. On the north side of the lake, you can get to the old Flume Bench, which’s trail is about 5 miles along El Monte Valley. There are trails and around the campground. Around the campground about one mile with small changes in height and a shorter path in the campground about 300 feet for all ages.

WOMAN IN THE PARK

There are various habitats with the hills of Jenning Lake, the lake, the coastal sage and the coastal areas. Deer can be seen early in the morning and late in the evening. Other creatures wandering around the lake are hornbells, coyotes, skunks and raccoons. These animals are wild, but not against being watched from afar.

Bird watchers, while on Jennings Lake, can see many birds from the chaparral and aquatic inhabitants. More than any other country in the United States, San Diego has registered 475 bird species.
