WINTER
This time of year fairs, markets and religious events take place in the country. Neapolitan Christmas cots are famous, and almost every church has one. The Christmas party itself is small; more is made of other religious events, such as the liquefaction of San Gennaro’s blood in Naples and Carnevale in Venice.
DECEMBER
Festa di Sant & amp; Ambrogio (beginning of December) Milan The official opening of the season of the opera La Scala.
Festa della Madonna di Loreto (December 10) , Loreto, Lemarche. Celebration of the Virgin.
Mercato della Befana (mid December - January 6) Rome Piazza Navona hosted the famous Christmas Fair.

Christmas Fair (mid December) Naples. Fair sale figures and decorations for the bed.
Fiaccole di Natale (Christmas Eve) , Abbadia de San Salvatore, Tuscany. Features carols and processes in memory of the first shepherds.
Midnight Mass (December 24) , in churches across the country.
Christmas (December 25) , St. Peter's Square, Rome. The public blessing of the Pope.
January
Capodanno (1st of January) , countrywide. The new year is celebrated with fireworks and volleys from hunters shooting into the air to scare away the ghosts and spirits of the old year and greet in the new.
La befana (6th January) through Italy. Children's holiday with gifts and sweets.
Pitti Immagine Uomo, Pitti Immagine Donna, Pitti Immagine Bimbo, Fortezzada Basso, Florence.Month international fashion shows for women, men and children.
Festa di san sebastiano (January 20th) , Dolceacqua, Liguria. The city hosts a laurel tree covered with colorful buddies.
Festa d & nbsp; Cippo di Sant & Antonio (January 17) Naples. The procession of St. Anthony, protector of animals.
Carnevale (monthly event ending with Shrove Tue) , Viareggio, Tuscany. Carnival is famous for its lively, themed floats.
St. Ors Fair (January 30-31) , Aosta, Valle d & quot; Aosta.Exhibition of traditional arts and crafts.
February
Carnevale (last ten days before Lent, completion of Maslenitsa on Tuesday) Venice The festival before the holiday means "farewell to the meat." Events are organized, but everyone can buy a mask and look at the many gorgeous costumes.
Sagra delle Mandorle in Fiore (first or second week) , Agrigento, Sicily. Annual Almond Blossom Feast.
Bakanal del Gnoko (dates vary) Verona Traditional masked procession with international and local allegorical floats. Masked balls took place in city blocks.
Carnevale (dates vary) , Mamoyada, Sardinia. Processes include Mamutones in black masks.
