In Mother City there are some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and something to offer to everyone. Not surprisingly, South Africa was one of the first countries outside of Europe to earn the blue flag for some of its beaches - there are three in Cape Town and around it.
The combination of two oceans (the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean) and, therefore, 2 different beach styles, separated by a 1000 m high peninsula, leaves Cape Town an unbeatable vacation spot.
Bikini Beach
Awarded with the Blue Flag, this is a small beach by the harbor in Gordons Bay. Very trendy grounds and many amenities. Remember that the height of the water falls quickly on this beach.
Strand Beach
Located in False Bay, an hour's drive from Cape Town, there is a long wide beach with waves suitable for all ages, pools with cliffs and a sea pool for children, watch the sun standing behind Mesa and admire the breathtaking Gottentots Dutch Mountains. Parking is plentiful, although on a sunny weekend it can become incredibly busy along Beach Road, there are several ice cream shops on the beach.
Grotto Beach
Next to the quaint town of Hermanus, Grotto Beach is long and white, dunes and mountains surround the beach, there is a small playground, a barbecue area and a restaurant nearby, whale watching can be enjoyed from the beach from July to December.
Sandy bay
Known as the closest nudist beach in Cape Town, it is also popular with gays. Sandy Bay is located near the surf site of Llandudno.
Camps bay
Located in the elegant suburb of Cape Town, it is the city’s favorite beach, Camps Bay Beach has many good amenities and is easily accessible to all. Great views can be enjoyed all day. The water here can be very cold and the wind can take a second!
Clifton beaches
4 small private beaches, separated by cliffs, and are the most fashionable beaches in the whole country, surrounded by extremely expensive apartments, this is one of the richest areas of the Western Cape. The beaches are more protected than at Camps Bay, but there is a steep walk to the beaches, and as soon as you are on the beach, there are no services other than people selling soft drinks and ice cream, so make sure you have everything with you! Clifton's first beach offers the best surfing, the second and third hot spots, and the fourth beach is much more suitable for families, with the easiest access and the calmest waters.
Elands bay
Northwest of Cape Town is a very popular spot for surfers with some of the best breaks in the country, usually Elands Bay is too windy for sunbathing and too cold for some swimmers.
