Vaginal Itchy Relief - Comparison of Products and Methods
When we have an annoying health problem, such as vaginal itching, most of us will go to the pharmacy to find a product to link itching.
Local Anesthetic Creams
Pharmaceutical preparations are mainly vaginal creams containing benzocaine as an active ingredient. Benzocaine is a local anesthetic and is used to block or dull the nerve endings of the skin - in this case, the skin around your vagina. Blocking sensation in your nerve endings simply hides the problem. Of course, your itching will temporarily lessen, but you can be sure that itching will return after a local anesthetic wears out!
Antifungal tablets for thrush, Candida or vaginal yeast infections
If you suspect that thrush (also known as Candida or a yeast infection) causes you to have vaginal itching, you can try an oral pill containing an antifungal drug, fluconazole. It is a serious antifungal agent that has some serious side effects, including: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion / pain, headache, dizziness and hair loss. Not to mention the possibility of liver damage or an allergic reaction that requires immediate medical attention.
I used fluconazole without any side effects, but I really worry about treating the whole body with a fungal infection that is local to the vagina - especially with this list of side effects! The problem is that our bodies rely on a tasty balance of germs - fungal, bacterial, and even viral. These microbes exist in the digestive tract, ears, nose, throat, vagina, anus and on the skin. The imbalance of the natural flora in the body usually leads to other health problems. Pathogenic (bad) bacteria can thrive more easily if fungal microbes are filled, which usually competes with bacteria when the body is healthy.
Pharmaceutical creams and pessaries
Antifungal creams and pessaries contain antifungal agents, miconazole, thiocinazole, butoconazole or clotrimazole. Possible side effects are: mild stinging, redness, blistering, peeling of the skin, chest tightness, swelling of the mouth, face and tongue, or severe allergies.
Repeated antifungal drugs can cause resistance to this particular drug by fungal germs in the vagina. The word “resistance” in medical terms describes the process of adaptation when organizations learn to overcome things that might otherwise kill them. Therefore, even if you may have been successfully treated with your candidacy, a thrush or a yeast infection with one of these antifungal drugs in the past, there may come a day when it will no longer be effective for you.
Natural treatment
There are many herbs that have natural antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral properties simply because plants must have their own protection against excessive growth of potentially pathogenic microbes.
Essential Oils for Candida, Thrush or Yeast Infection
Essential oils are particularly effective as antimicrobial agents. Essential oils have some amazing benefits that pharmaceutical, chemical options can not match. For example, essential oils can be completely destroyed by the biological processes of the body, so that they do not create the side effects that pharmaceutical drugs have. Possible side effects are mostly mild irritation or potential allergies that should be addressed when you stop using oils.
Secondly, essential oils, by their very nature, are chemically complex, which confuses the process of adaptation of pathogenic microbes, which greatly complicates stability.
Tea tree oil
Tea tree oil is an essential oil that is particularly beneficial for its antifungal and antibacterial properties and is known for its low irritation. The main difficulty in using tea tree essential oil for vaginal itching is proper dilution (tea tree oil burns mucous membranes, if it is used undiluted).
Douching is the most common method of applying tea tree oil in the vagina. This method involves sitting in a “chintz” bath (which looks like a bowl the size of a toilet) and twisting the aqueous solution into the vagina with an acupuncture syringe or turkey. It can be dirty and rather uncomfortable!
