Optometrists - obtaining a master's thesis in the field of optometry -2

The work of optometry doctors is quite different from the dosing of opticians or ophthalmologists. Of course, ophthalmologists also conduct eye examinations, as well as prescribe glasses and contact lenses, but they can perform operations and treat eye-related diseases. On the other hand, metering optics play the role of fitting and adjusting glasses, but some of them are allowed to install contact lenses in accordance with the instructions given by optometrists or ophthalmologists.

As a rule, a PhD thesis in optometry will require at least a degree in optometry, preceded by at least three years of pre-optometric research at any accredited university or college. A degree in optics itself will take up to four years or study. In most countries, a certified optometrist specialist who intends to engage in optics must obtain a license in advance. In addition to having a degree as a basic requirement, you need to pass both written and clinical exams. For example, in the US, students must pass exams certified by the National Council of Experts. Usually a license is renewed every three years.

In principle, high qualifications are not required for entering optometry schools, but there are some fundamental requirements, such as the basis of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and, of course, English. Those who are not from science, but intend to be doctors of optics, may take courses that offer laboratory experience before they become an oculist. Programs will usually cover lectures and laboratory work in the health and visual sciences. In addition, clinical training will be held for students to learn about the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.

If you are already an oculist, but you want to achieve success, you can teach or conduct research by completing a master’s degree or a master’s thesis. A doctorate in optometry is a one-year program available to optometrists wishing to acquire a more advanced level of clinical competence in a particular field of optometry. Several areas for optical research include pediatric optometry, vision therapy, low vision rehabilitation, geriatric optometry, family practice optometry, refractive and eye surgery, as well as the cornea and contact lenses.
