Discount rug from Karastan is an elegant thief. Karastan carpets are known as one of the best machine carpets ever made. Before the appearance of the first Karashensky carpet in 1928, people knew that artificial stone rugs could never be beaten by hand-made quality and resale carpets, even if they come with significant discounts. But the carpets of Karastan changed this image. In 1928, in a small North Carolina city named Lakesville, the first of these elegant rugs, laid out on the Axminster label. These carpets were so excellent, and their quality and durability were so great that buyers began to see a slight difference between a handmade carpet and a machine carpet like Karastan, with the exception of large discounts that were applied by machine carpet over an artificial carpet. In fact, so strangely similar was the carpet of the region of Karastan for handmade carpets, that fashion magazines began to call them secret carpets.
Marshall Field, the famous Chicago department store, which had brains, had these carpets, quickly took advantage of the popularity of Karastan. Five years later, at the 1933 fair in Chicago, they had a Karastan bucket, not as a display, but as an actual floor covering. After five million feet of dust and polluted this elegant piece of carpet, Marshall Field removed half of it, and the other half as an eternity, to evaluate its strength. It still exists as evidence of the elegance and durability of these magnificent creations from Karastan.
Almost all carpets of Karastan are wool carpets; They are made from the best New Zealand wool. This wool does not have small fibers that cause discomfort in people suffering from asthma, and also do not contain dust mites and other causes of allergies. It is known that wool is an exceptional dust absorber due to its ability to produce static electricity, and the Karastan carpet, regularly cleaned, makes an exceptional dust collector at reduced prices.
Innovations never became gone to Karastan. They produced a series of patented finishing processes that give their areas a unique color and patina for carpets that are so characteristic of them. No machine rug possessed such remarkable softness, refinement and harmony of colors characteristic of handmade antique carpets, until the Karastan carpets were processed with the patented LusterWash finish, which made them look like a soft finish. A few years later, Karastan began using the AntiqueWash process. This, as the name implies, used chemicals to soften the brightness of the Karashensky carpet, giving it old age and a muffled appearance, which previously used only antique handmade carpets.
In 1997, Karastan began using the TeaWash process, which further improved its work to complete the process. This is a multistage technique that adds an old appearance to the carpet of Kazakhstan, producing vintage patina of wool using chemical means. It adds a warm yellowish tint to pure white New Zealand wool, giving it a look of antiquity, very valuable to carpet lovers, and which is not usually found in machine carpets. Competitors have tested to imitate this process to create similar carpets, but with less success than Karastan.
In connection with the LusterWash equipment, it should be noted that in 2006, Karastan introduced a new style of carpet making through the Shapura collection. Authentic handmade carpets from Peshawar are glossy, created using vegetable dyes and which are not found in machine carpets. Using the LusterWash technique, Karastan managed to create a similar look in their Karastan rugs, made by Axminster. They look so much like authentic handmade carpets that Karastan carpets have become known as “America's Miracles Rugs”.
