Confession: it's cyclists
As an avid cyclist and defender of cyclists, I have a confession: my family of two has two cars. Although we live in a metropolitan area, we live high up in the mountains of Auckland, California, where there is little bus or train service. When my wife and I have to quickly return from individual destinations (especially with cargo), cars are the only option.
Public transportation: limited progress
Many metropolitan areas are making unrepresented efforts to expand public transport infrastructure and use it. Even places known for their autocentricity, such as Los Angeles, have made great strides. Unfortunately, in all situations, the car is still the only way to deal with children, food, etc. in a timely manner. In addition, budget cuts, bureaucracy planning and the simple location of many cities mean that the car will continue to play a vital role as a transport in foreseeable future.
Optimization of suboptimal transport
However, suboptimal public transport is no excuse for just driving alone in our cars. Instead, we need to find ways to maximize the utility of the automatic transport system while we expand alternative systems. People around San Francisco Bay already commute with something called a "random car."
Random car
People traveling alone in San Francisco, go to one of dozens of random stops at the carpool, where “racers” (complete strangers) climb up to their empty cars and divide the trip into the city. Voila! A trip by car is 4 times more productive than if a driver was driving alone. The driver gets a discount on bridges, bridges and metro systems get less overload, and the world gets less greenhouse gases. All this at no extra cost, fancy technology or even any official organization. However, a casual car does nothing for people needing to get anywhere below the city center within a few hours. This leaves a huge gap.
Install the bike rack on your car
What if these car enthusiasts had bike racks in their car? This will radically expand the range of any “rider” after the car reaches the goal. What if these cyclists and stand-enabled motorists identified themselves with stickers on the bumper so that they could fit anytime in any place: not only in a certain place and in time? This will radically improve the range and performance for motorists / cyclists: not to mention the relationship between motorists and cyclists.
This is, in fact, what makes an increasing number of my motorists and cyclists friends. It works so fabulously that I thought it was time to share it here. When my friends plan to meet later after leaving different places or times, one of us can go on a bike ride to the meeting place and then share the car after. It also eliminates the need to get a bike somewhere and come back for it after we’ve stopped a car.
Benefits for motorists with car racks include the following:
instantly increases the efficiency of cars;
instantly increases the range of bikes;
can be done quickly: at night all motorists can install bike racks;
can be done with a little money: some racks cost less than $ 100;
reduces the competitive relationship between motorists and cyclists, literally getting them side by side; and
fulfills the mission to find out what someone can do now, with very little cost and effort that have a significant impact on global health and environmental issues.

If you are a car enthusiast, I hope that you will join car enthusiasts who install bicycle racks and, if possible, ride bicycles. It is incredibly simple and very useful.
