If you are planning to try a little DIY DIY concrete work, it is extremely important that you calculate the right amount of concrete to order. Concrete is always ordered in cubic meters.
First of all, you need to determine what the new specific area will be used for.
ie: walking path, garden shed, driveway
Different concrete applications require different thicknesses.
Use this as a basic guide for square and rectangular areas.
Path - thickness 80 mm
Small gasket - 80 mm
Road for standard size cars - 100 mm
Use the formula below -
L = length W = width H = height or thickness
(L) x (W) x (H)
Driveway:
If the access road has a length of 5 meters x 4 m x 100 mm
5x4x.1 = 2 cu. Required M concrete
The same formula can be used for bands, steps, etc.
To develop the necessary concrete for the area of the triangle, the formula is as follows:
1/2 = half B = base H = height
1/2 (B) x (H) this gives you square meters of space, while this square meter can generate a volume of cubic meter
If the triangle has a base length of 5 meters and a height of 4 meters, the equation will look like this:
2.5x4 = 10 square meters. M (2.5 is half the base height 5)
Now that we have square meters of triangle area, we can develop a volume of cubic meter
10 (sq. M) x.1 = 1 cu. M
There are quite a few different types of concretes available incl. simple, colored, outdoor unit, terrazzo, limestone, light weight, eco-friendly concrete, etc.
There are several main factors that influence the type of concrete required. For different applications may require more strength or large aggregate size, etc.
For a standard driveway, the type of concrete you order is 25/14/80
25 = 25 MPa 14 = 14 mm aggregate size 80 = 80 sediment
For a walkway, the type of concrete required should be 20/14/80
For the base mix will be 25 / 14,20 / 80
In the winter or cold months, the mixture should also be a “winter mixture.” The winter mix has a low dose of accelerator to speed up the cure time.
During the summer, it may be necessary to use a decanter to slow down the curing time of the concrete.
Paying special attention to the items listed will help DIY not only save money on ordering concrete, but also choose the right type of concrete to order.
