While some scratch their heads and wonder, others take massive action. It’s very simple when it comes to turning yourself into the dominant fitness professional in your area. The formula is proven. The only thing that cannot be granted by someone like me is the desire and courage to take this knowledge and apply it.
It's written, I'm going to lay out what you need, and get you to start on the path to full domination in your competitions. The purpose of this exercise? When someone from your city is ready to hire a fitness professional, your name will be the only one they think about.
1) You must have a website
If you want your potential clients to be considered true professionals, clients, peers, and the media, you just have to be present on the Internet. Not having your own website, this is completely unacceptable.
Nowadays, it’s easier than ever to create your own website. There are many tools available that you can find on the Internet that will allow you to create your website and work on the same day, even if it’s just a one-page website that includes the basics. And by basics, I mean the information that your potential client wants to know about. Namely, who do you work with and what do you do for them? Yes, they want to know that you are an expert in what you are doing, but the emphasis should be on “what is in it for THEIR” and not you. This marketing is 101.
As you build your site, you can add additional pages explaining your services, the products you sell, the articles you wrote, and everything else that contributes to you and your experience.
2) You must have media connections.
No advertising information can buy you the type of instant credit you receive when you publish as a fitness expert in the media. And while your prospects see more and more marketing messages each, about fitness and everything else, you need to use free advertising to stand out from the crowd.
Journalists, editors and producers should be among your best friends. They are always looking for fresh and unique ideas of history. You need to deliver them so that your prospects look at you as head and shoulders above the rest of the fitness professionals near you.
How do you do that? Pretty simple, really. Contact each representative in your area and introduce yourself. Let them know that you can always offer plot ideas on health and fitness topics. And if they ever need comments or quotes for the story they are working on, you can help.
3) You must have created at least one product.
The media loves published authors. Therefore, when you write your book, you put yourself literally a man or a woman who “wrote a book on the subject.” Your potential customers will also look at you.
When you write a book or create your own DVD, you will reach another level. Products not only add to your trust, but are also a terrific way to earn serious passive income.
4) You must have a newsletter.
Regardless of whether it is physically processed for potential customers and clients or simply sent via email, a regular newsletter will allow you to both educate your target market and increase your credit in the eyes.
And although there are newsletter services to which you can subscribe, I found from personal experience that you are much better off creating your own. What for? Because people buy from those whom they know, love and trust. A regular newsletter allows you to use your “voice”. People want to know how you really relate to topics related to learning. People want to know your identity. It is about being a foothold in the eyes of the public, which means having courage and talking about your mind. If you want to dominate your territory, this means that you must be prepared to take risks.
5) You must be a good public speaker
If you cannot stand in front of a group of people and give a presentation, your business will not grow easily. This is an absolutely necessary skill that you need to possess.
There is no shortage of places to speak:
Network groups
Women's and men's clubs
Community organizations
corporations
Religious organizations
Getting "booked" as a speaker is simple. Most organizations that hold weekly meetings are constantly looking for speakers. Just call and ask them if they are interested in a fitness presentation. If they did not have another personal trainer, they would be delighted if you came to speak with their group.
Yes, it's true: they ask you to come in and talk for free. However, the speaker adds to your confidence and gives you the impression that he is a much more respected expert than other fitness specialists. And when a potential client sees your future performances on your site, you will have a serious competitive advantage.
In addition, public speaking is a great way to market your products and services. In fact, if you can record one of your presentations, you can sell it as an informational product! See how it all connects?
6) You must write "practical" articles
Being a good writer is another critical skill, because published simple articles on how to “become” are a terrific way to promote yourself as the most qualified trainer in your area. There are all sorts of publications that would be happy to publish them. To begin with, most of the organizations on which you are going to speak have their own newsletter. Do you think they may be interested in some kind of free content in order to preserve the health of their members?
You can also contact your small newspaper and local magazines. In addition, almost every city and town has its own website. What about your local chamber of commerce? And most importantly, you can usually write one article and publish it in numerous publications!
If you are looking for ideas on what to write, I have two suggestions for you.
First, think about the questions you constantly get from friends, family, customers, and potential customers. As these people ask you, you know that others also want to answer these questions.
Second, go to your local kiosk and look at the covers of the magazines your target market reads. The headlines tell everything. If national fitness magazines talk about this, you know that this is a hot topic that people want to get information about.
And if you're wondering how to write, well, you read! Just think up the name “how”, write an introductory paragraph or two, and then list all the tips that explain exactly how to do something. At the end of the article you will find a brief biography about yourself and make sure that it leads to a website where they can download even more free information. This way you add them to your database so you can continue to sell them directly. Another reason why it is so important to have a website. Again, see how it all comes together?
7) You must use your time
Most coaches never spend time developing their business. Just as the general population will never find time to play sports, they have to make time, it should be. It means using your time. For this, you need to know where you are spending all your time now.
How much time do you spend ...
customer training?
marketing?
search for public speaking?
write articles?
If you spend all the time educating clients, how do you expect to become the dominant trainer in your field? If you said you can't, you're right. So how do you use your time?
Hire trainers to train clients for you.
Train customers in small groups so that you earn a lot more per hour
Running fitness camps
Creating and selling your own information products
Write articles for publication for profit
Develop seminars for which you get
Using your time also means that you hire others to perform professional services for you.
Spending too much time on your books? Hire an accountant.
Spending too much time tracking client-used sessions? Take an assistant.
There are any number of professionals you can hire to make your life easier. If you want to become the dominant coach in your field, you need to focus on one thing: develop your business.
8) You must fill your database
If you do not live under a rock, you know a lot of people. In fact, when you list them all, you will be amazed at how much. Once you are done, start thinking about how these people can help you. Who do they know? What do you need? They may know a great place for you. They may know the website where you can submit your articles. They may know an inexpensive accountant who can do your books. They may know someone in the media who would like to make a story about your training business. Get the picture?
In addition, I would say that they know some very important people in your community. Ask these people for lunch and pick up a tab. Choose their brains. What do these successful people you don't know know? Who else knows what you should know? If you want to be the most dominant, and then, a successful fitness professional in your field, you want the most powerful people to make noise around you.
9) You must be willing to give up the business
All the above tips are crucial. But do not replace walking, talking billboards, which are your paying customers. If you feel that the prospect is not serious in becoming a living, breathing marketing product, then turn them off. Do not allow all the hard work you have invested in your business to be destroyed by those who do not want to do the work that it must do.
