How many pond fish are too many? -2

Do you devote time, resources and effort in creating a pond for your garden? If this is the case, then after all this time, tension and hard work needed to build your pond, it is time for you to invest in fish for this.

This may be the most exciting part of the whole project. Before you exhaust and buy an assortment of fish, you need to know approximately how much fish you should include in your pond, and how many fish are too many.

In fact, there are several factors that you should consider before deciding on the amount of fish you need for your pond. A few factors you should consider are the size of the fish, the gallons of water that you have in your pond, and how strong your pond filter is.

There are formulas that you can use to help you make a decision. For example, a standard formula indicating a square foot of water for a pond, you should have one inch of fish. Using this formula, one hundred (100) inches of fish are suitable for a 10-foot square pond.

This formula is easy to use, but even with this formula, commercial fish are not taken into account. According to our old formula, a fish with the size of one twelfth inch is equivalent to four three-inch fish. This calculation is incorrect in that a twelve-inch fish will soon weigh about 475 grams, and four three-inch fish will soon weigh about 29 grams.

This is a huge difference! It is best to consider the waste of fish that can be generated every day. You should keep in mind that you should take into account that every day you will receive almost one third of your weight. Approximately 158 grams of fish waste every day is what your pond will filter from twelve-inch fish.

This simply means that if you have a small or medium pond, purchasing a large number of small fish is much better than a few large fish. Even if you consider small fish for your pond, you should not overload it with too much fish.

If you have three feet of space in your pond, you can include 60 inches or 10 real goldfish. Make sure you have a strong and tough filter in your pond. The filter plays a big role in the life of your fish.

There is a more popular rule that you can use instead of the old formula. This rule is often used by several fish specialists. These rules state that a square meter of surface should be 1/2 "koi. You can include four twelve-inch knights-koi in your pond 10x10 feet in size at home. It's a little dirtier than a goldfish.

If you are lucky that you have a new pond in your home, never overload the pond with too many fish at the same time. Overloading your pond can destroy your natural filter, increase your ammonia spike and increase the risk of killing all your new fish.

It is best to add new fish to the pond sparingly. Turn on only one or two new fish and let the fish adjust to the pond for the next two weeks or more before adding additional fish to your pond. Since the pond is an ecological system, you will need to allocate
