The Dunas Douradas (Golden Sand Dunes) resort is located between Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago in the sunny Algarve in Portugal. The hotel is located in the Golden Triangle, a 20-minute drive from Faro International Airport. The nearest town, Almancil, is five minutes away by car. Built by Norweigan Linstow AS, the resort now boasts a new five-star beach project (built in 2008), the Dunas Douradas Beach Club.
The original Dunas Douradas resort consists of self-catering apartments, townhouses and luxury villas located in 77 acres of the Pine Forest. The apartments are located near the reception and 1.5 km from the beach with a blue flag. Most townhouses and luxury villas are located about 500-700 meters from Dunas Douradas beach.
Guests of the resort can enjoy facilities such as a children's pool, communal pool, tennis courts (local payment), 24-hour security, reception and snack bar. There is also a mini market in the resort where you can stock up on basics such as bread, water, milk and butter. The nearest supermarket is located at the entrance to Vale do Lobo, but the most popular supermarket in the area is Apolonia, which is located in Almancil. The popular resort restaurant Xenia & was opened in 2010 and offers a good selection of local and international dishes overlooking the Roman-style pool.
A new five-star resort, Dunas Douradas Beach Beach Club, overlooks Dunas Douradas Beach, known to locals as “Maria Beach”. The resort recently received the Best Development in Europe at the International Bloomberg award ceremony. Hosts can rent a selection of self-catering apartments and luxury villas. The price of each apartment depends on the area in which it is located. The areas closest to the sea (and with the best views) are more expensive than those located at the back of the resort. However, all apartments and villas are just a few minutes. walk to the beach.
Club House has many amenities to keep guests of all ages occupied. For those who want to enjoy the sunshine and a deserted swimming pool, there are three outdoor pools, a jacuzzi and a waiter. In the cold months there is also an indoor heated pool. The gym offers individual training and a variety of activities. The newly opened spa offers a variety of treatments. For younger visitors, there is a playground, a kids club and babysitting services.
Restaurant Albatroz & offers a wide selection of fish and Algarian cuisine. It also has an inexpensive children's menu. The adjacent cocktail bar offers an extensive list of wines and cocktails, as well as non-alcoholic fruit juices and beer.
Near the entrance to the Club House is a mini-market offering a small selection of local products. The Dunas Douradas Beach Club also provides a free shuttle service to the Apolonia supermarket in Almancil on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The beach is open to guests and non-guests of the resort. Part of the beach is designed for sun loungers and umbrellas, which can be rented weekly or daily. Lifeguards and water sports are available during the summer months. The beach-restaurant "Maria" offers a wide selection of dishes and drinks, as well as redemption services.
