Furniture for small apartments - how to maximize and minimize space -2

Just because you live in a space that is slightly larger than a wardrobe, it does not mean that you need to be uncomfortable or unhappy. You will need to make purchases of intelligent furniture, because the couch that works in a suburban McMansion will not work in a city one-room apartment.

Choosing the right furniture for a small apartment is really just a question. While shops, such as IKEA and Target, have a good choice for furniture that will work in a dorm or in a one-room apartment, you can find suitable furniture for small rooms anywhere. You just have to think like a ship captain.

Why captain ship? Because the interiors of ships offer the best example of good use and efficient use of space. Anyone who has ever had the good fortune to be aboard a large sailboat or even a yacht knows how compact everything is, how much thought goes about how spaces are created and how well everything is built. It becomes obvious that someone thought a lot about what was really necessary, and then simply ignored what was not necessary and did the necessary work.

Although you hope that you have more space than in the cabin of a ship, thinking with such intentions and priorities can give you significantly more run of several square feet that you have. The first thing to consider is what you want to do when your space. Please do not say "Spirit, I want to live in it." Do you like to play video games? Would you like to read? Cook? Do you spend a lot of time in the bathroom or dress to look better? Choose the 2-3 actions that are really necessary for your well-being, and start thinking about how to use your space to allow you to do these things in the best possible way.

If you are well dressed, this is important to you, it can mean using a large part of your wall space for a very large mirror. If you like cooking, it can mean expanding your kitchen space with the help of a shelf or hanging pots and hands or by adding a kitchen island. If you like to read, it can be included in one big comfortable chair so that you can really relax and take a book.

After you have figured out what your main activities are, you are ready to start shopping for furniture. Try to find pieces of furniture that serve two purposes. Ottoman storage is a terrific example, because you can sit on them, use them as a coffee table, and also keep things out of sight. Wall shelves and containers are very useful, because you can be tightly on the shelf, and you certainly fit tightly to the floor. If you are buying a bed, seriously think about the types of beds, but you can store things under them. Finally, try going to a height - floor to ceiling shelving made the difference in many small apartments and dormitories.
