The Cup has become very relevant, as Michael Phelps showed his cups at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Of course, cupping is a very ancient form of Chinese medicine that has been around for thousands of years and has been used by various cultures around the world. Historians believe that cupping is, in fact, the most ancient method in Chinese medicine, preceding acupuncture.
What is Cupping?
Suction is applied to the skin using glass, rubber or plastic glasses. In ancient times, doctors used bamboo. The vacuum action quickly facilitates the release of hard soft tissues. It loosens and lifts connective tissues, breaks and drains stagnation, and increases blood flow and lymph flow to the skin, muscles and connective tissues. It does all this much faster and more efficiently than any other type of therapy, including acupuncture, massage therapy, chiropractic adjustments, medications, and sometimes surgery.
What do the colors mean?
The change in color on the skin after cupping indicates different things. Sometimes it turns orange or purple, and for others - red. Stamps usually last from three days to a week; sometimes longer if the person is very sick or sedentary. The color change on the skin after cupping also helps to determine the nature and location of the disease, but for a healthy person with healthy skin the color of the tissue does not change after cupping.
Since you can use the suction cups almost anywhere on the surface of the body, except in areas where large blood vessels pass, for example, in the groin, you can check whether you have internal problems outside the body. In areas where there is dead blood, lymph, cellular debris, pathogenic factors and toxins present in the body, arresting leaves traces that indicate that the congestion has been moved from deeper layers of tissue to the surface. The color and structure of the tags depends on the level of stagnation in the area. If there is no stagnation, there will be only a light pink sign that disappears in a few minutes to a few hours.
Areas where there is an old injury or injury may require several cupping procedures to remove all stagnation. Patients find in subsequent methods that the tags will be lighter and easier as the pathogens are systematically removed from the body. Cup marks are not bruises, and they are usually not painful. Although the cupping procedure itself can be a little uncomfortable, and the signs can look dramatic, the presence of color in areas with cubes ensures that the patient feels immediate relief after treatment.
Who should do the cupping?
Although docking is a simple method, it should be performed only by a practitioner. Although some massage therapists, chiropractors or aesthetics offer drug therapy, they usually do not have the in-depth training and experience necessary for the safe and effective use of stopping therapy. At best, cupping therapy conducted by an untrained practitioner will be ineffective. In the worst case, it can cause burns, blisters or scar tissue, which lead to further pain, not relief.
