Undoubtedly, we all want to remake and build the kitchen of our dreams (with granite countertops, Internet connected devices worth $ 10,000, built-in islands with tons and tons of storage space and do not forget that the huge bay window allows solar flow in .. .
The problem is that most of us don't have that kind of money, especially today!
Fortunately, you do not need to do a great job remodeling the kitchen to improve this room. Just adding a little extra storage space in the kitchen can really make it much more pleasant to work with. Some items are also fairly inexpensive, and in many cases they can be found in Craiglist!
5 easy ways to increase kitchen storage
1. Get a microwave cart
If you damage the space for the counterweight, but you have an unused corner of the kitchen (or even a dining room or kitchen corner), a microwave cart can be an easy way to get this large appliance out of the rack and out of the way.
Not only does the cart give your microwave a special place to rest, but carts usually have plenty of storage space under it. You can find models with cabinets, drawers, shelves or a mixture of them (if you are mistaken, it makes sense to get a trolley with a "hidden" storage, AKA doors that you can close!).
2. Install racking racks under the cabinet
It is very common for people to install a paper towel holder under the top cupboards, but why stop there? In any case, it’s just dead space.
There are many glass racks that you can pick up that are specifically designed to hold sets of glasses of wine or martini (in fact, with any glass with a stem). If you have a personal person in the family, these racks can even be made by hand from pieces of wood or metal. All you need is a small spot to turn the glasses upside down.
As a bonus, hanging these glasses upside down keeps dust!
3. Add shelves
The shelves are inexpensive and make good use of the empty space on the wall. Most likely, you can find some used wall devices for sale on Craigslist, but in fact all that is required is some brackets and boards for the manufacture of main shelves. With a little paint, you can make them fit into your kitchen decor.
4. Create cabinets between cabinets or nooks
There is not much space between the studs in the walls, but enough for a cabinet that has a fire extinguisher or a small corner to accommodate some trinkets.
This is a project for a do-it-yourselfer, but if you have a stud finder in your toolbox, it’s not too much work to cut a hole in the wall and complete it beautifully. If you are shopping, you can even find inexpensive shelves and cabinets designed for this space.
5. Install cabinet racks to make dead space available.
If you have a kitchen with cupboards built around corners, there’s probably some kind of dead space where it’s hard to get.
Instead of just pushing things that you often do not use in the opposite direction, make this space easily accessible using Lazy Susans or retractable racks.
You can also get racks to create levels under your sink, which can double the space you have for storing cleaning products, garbage bags, etc.
There you go: five inexpensive ways to increase storage in the kitchen!
