11 ways to deal with red wine -2

Red wine is often bottled. In fact, white wine spills probably happened at least as often, but these are terrible puddles of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz or Pinot Noir, which are most pronounced in our memory - especially if we caused them.

Here are 11 ways to handle red wine spills on the carpet:

1. Apply wine. This commercial product works wonders, even on washed stains - just follow the instructions. You keep them in the kitchen, right?

2. Locate the lamp with a base wide enough to cover the spot. Place the lamp on top of the spot. Voila! Out of sight, out of mind.

3. Combine liquid soap with hydrogen peroxide. Soak up the sponge in this mix, squeeze out the excess to make it wet, not dripping, and blot the spot thoroughly.

4. Spray more wine here and there all over the carpet. Make a lot of stains, all tied with drizzle wines. Tell people that you are turning a carpet into a work of art of Jackson Pollock style.

5. Pour a large pile of salt over the stains. If the spill is fresh, the wine will be poured into salt - you will really see that the mound will turn pink. I first saw it at a party at a friend's house, and, yes, I was the culprit who shot my glass. I was surprised. Not to mention the incredible relief. Some say that kosher salt works best because its large crystals absorb wine better.

6. Cut out the carpet area with a stain. Use this as a template for cutting a piece of unpainted carpet of the same size from a hidden area, for example, under or behind a sofa. Glue a clean piece of carpet to the hole where you removed the stain.

7. Chase red wine with white wine. Indeed. Just fill a glass of Chardonnay or Chablis and pour it on the stain. This dilutes the red color and makes it easier to remove.

8. Rotate the entire carpet so that the stained glass side is facing down and the carpet back is facing up. Pretend this is supposed to be a carpet.

9. Go to the automated store and ask for Dri-Clean. This is another commercial product that works great on wine stains.

10. Reflect on transit life - and unpainted carpets. Find this place deep inside, it's normal when you live with this ugly spot, as long as you have this carpet.

11. Sprinkle cornstarch on the stain. This works in the same way as the salt trick described above, where cornstarch absorbs wine. After that you can use a brush to pull out the powder, or just pick it up.
