 10 Carpet Installation Tips -2

Carpet installation is one of the most frequently performed home improvements. Laying carpet on the floor will help you save money on your energy bills every month. A new floor mat can change the look of the entire room. Performing carpet installation without the help of a professional can be more difficult than you think.

The following tips will help you if you decide to make your own installation on the carpet.

Carpet Installation Tips

1. Measuring the area where the carpet will be installed is the most important step in installing the carpet. To measure a room, you need to measure the width of the room, and then the length of the room. Multiply width by length. Then divide the amount you came up with nine. This will tell you the number of square meters of carpet and pads you need to purchase.

2. Carpet on walls is sold in rolls, which are usually 12 inches wide. If the room in which you place the mat is wider than 12, you will need to buy a suture tape and sew two sections of the carpet to make the mat suitable.

3. Professionals use “iron”, which can heat the suture tape so that they can join two sections and make the carpet, apparently, without seams. Practice some of these seam joints on carpet scraps before attempting to make them on your carpet.

4. You must remove the base boards in the room where the carpet will be laid. After the rug is in place, you will return the baseboard back. Baseboards will help keep the mat in the correct position.

5. The surface on which you lay the carpet should be flat. If the surface is concrete, you can buy a floor leveling device and pour it on the concrete. If the surface area is wooden, you may need to level the structure to get the surface level.

6. Before installation, the surface must be cleaned of dirt and debris.

7. The gasket that benefits the carpet is important. The padding makes the finished floor softer to move on, but also protects the back of the carpet. Do not install the pad without a gasket.

8. If you have several cuts to make in the rug, you can roll the carpet so that the back side is facing up. Measure where each neckline will be located and tick the back of the carpet to match these measurements. Cut out the rug, then fold it and install.

9. You must have a kicker to help you install the carpet. This tool pulls wrinkles from the carpet.

10. The mounting strips are attached to the floor around the outer parts of the room. The pad and carpet will be delivered to these strips and will not miss the furniture on your rug when placing items back into the room. This can create a wrinkle in the rug.
